watch Jamo Gang’s (Ras Kass, El Gant, J57) powerful video for protest song “Francis Scott Key”

Jamo Gang is the new-ish trio of three hip hop veterans: LA legend Ras Kaas and New York artists El Gant and J57. They recently released their debut album Walking With Lions, which features contributions from DJ Premier, Slug of Atmosphere, Sick Jacken of Psycho Realm, Slaine of La Coka Nostra, Slipknot turntablist Sid Wilson, and Tiffany Topol. (J57 produced every song except "The 1st Time," produced by DJ Premier.)

We're now premiering the video for "Francis Scott Key," a protest anthem that resonated when the song came out as a single in 2019 and resonates even more right now. "This song is just the musical version of what I speak about every day," Ras Kass says. "Without speaking about the atrocities committed against people of color, and those in a position of disadvantage, nothing gets done. When Trump first took office, the only thing that I was optimistic about was perhaps music would start becoming political again and people would take a stance like in the early nineties and late sixties. For the most part shockingly, that didnt happen.....so here we are."

The video features the trio performing in front of an American flag, and splices in footage that helps tell the song's story, including clips of Trump rallies, the white nationalist march in Charlottesville, Hitler, recent police violence, oppression against indigenous people, the KKK, lynchings, Colin Kaepernick, people carrying Confederate flags, and much more. It's a very powerful video, and you can watch it below.
