Atlanta's Microwave haven't released new music since 2019's Death Is A Warm Blanket, which took the band in a heavier post-hardcore direction than ever before (they cited influences like Fear Before the March of Flames, The Chariot, Heavy Heavy Low Low, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, and more), until now. They've just put a new single called "Circling The Drain," and the grunge-era vibes are strong on this one, but the song's a little lighter sounding than the last album. Stereogum's Chris DeVille compared it to Weezer's "Say It Ain't So," which is a comparison that's hard not to make, but it still feels like a Microwave song, and a very explosive one at that. The song is out now via Pure Noise. No word yet on a new album, but let's hope that's coming soon. Listen below.
Microwave are also promising to play the song live when they open The Story So Far's tour, alongside Joyce Manor (who announced a new album this week) and Mom Jeans (who released a new album in February). That tour hits NYC on April 22 at Terminal 5. All dates are listed below.
