Rodrigo, backed by a terrific four piece band, sat down at the piano Friday to deliver her breakout debut single “drivers license.” “I wrote this song about driving through the suburbs crying…” said the singer, outlining the origins of the hit, barely audible over screaming as the crowd lost its collective mind. Opening with just vocals and piano, guitar soon dove low. “Sing it!” said the star, egging on a crowd that did not appear to require such instruction. [Forbes]
Olivia Rodrigo is in the midst of her 2022 tour, and she stopped in Chicago on Friday and Saturday (4/15 & 4/16) for a pair of shows at Aragon Ballroom. She played all her fantastic 2021 debut, SOUR (although not in track order), and like she has throughout the tour, she included two very fitting covers: Avril Lavigne's "Complicated" and Veruca Salt's "Seether."
