The full trailer, artwork, and official streaming release date for Pulp's new concert film, What Do You Do For An Encore?, have finally been unveiled. The project promises an intimate look at the Sheffield band's recent resurgence and their celebrated return to the stage.
Frontman Jarvis Cocker and his bandmates first teased the project back in June, confirming that the film would capture the energy of their two sold-out performances at London’s The O2 last summer. Directed by Garth Jennings—who previously collaborated with the band on iconic music videos for 'Help The Aged' and 'A Little Soul'—the 90-minute feature blends rare behind-the-scenes footage with a narrative that traces the group's journey from obscurity to their status as a cultural touchstone.
Following a series of exclusive one-night-only cinema previews in the UK, Ireland, Canada, and the US throughout September, What Do You Do For An Encore? will be available to stream exclusively on MUBI starting September 25.
The newly released trailer offers a glimpse into the film's aesthetic, featuring vibrant live footage from 2025 alongside nostalgic archival clips from the 1990s. In the clip, Cocker reflects on the band's enduring legacy, noting, "Songs contain pockets of energy from your past life, which is released when you perform them again. It’s real time travel."
Produced by Octavia Peissel and edited by Barney Pilling, the film is designed to capture the spirit of classic concert documentaries like Stop Making Sense. It features 20 tracks, ranging from fan-favorite anthems to deeper cuts, all set against the backdrop of the band's recent arena tour.
For fans eager to dive deeper into the band's recent output, the accompanying live album is scheduled for release via Rough Trade on August 28. This release follows a busy period for the band, who have continued to perform high-profile sets at festivals like Mad Cool 2026 and released new material including the track 'Begging For Change' and a recent EP.
