Irish actress Jessie Buckley is a hot Hollywood property these days. She was nominated for an Oscar this year for The Lost Daughter, and you might also know her from Charlie Kaufman's I'm Thinking of Ending Things, HBO's Chernobyl and the fourth season of Fargo; she'll next appear in Men, the new psychological horror film from Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation). She's also a singer -- she starred in country music drama film Wild Rose and played Sally Bowles in the 2021 West End revival of Cabaret -- and she's now made a new album with former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler. It's titled For All Our Days That Tear The Heart and will be out June 10 via EMI.
According to a feature in The Guardian, the pairing was suggested by Buckley's manager. “I was scared, it was raw, exposing,” Buckley said of her first meeting with Butler, who since Suede has worked with Aimee Mann, Neneh Cherry, The Libertines, Duffy, Ben Watt, and more. “I was sitting on a man’s floor who I’d never met. I never thought we’d even make a song, let alone an album.” But Butler and Buckley had an instant creative connection and began writing songs together.
