Adapter: “Be Unique and Don’t Follow the Trend”

Adapter is a Naples-born DJ and producer whose relationship with music started early. He began studying piano and percussion at the age of ten, building a strong musical base before moving into electronic production in his early twenties.

Rooted in club culture but guided by solid musicianship, Adapter has shaped a sound that moves between house, melodic elements, and techno. His productions and DJ sets focus on energy, tension, and timing, always designed for real dance floors rather than trends.

His work has appeared on respected labels including Aeterna, Black Book, Catch & Release, Diynamic, Hot Creations, North of Neptune, Repopulate Mars, Sola, Stereohype, and Trick. Whether in clubs or festival settings, his sets are direct, driving, and carefully paced.

Following his new EG Podcast mix, we had a chat with Adapter to talk about his latest release, ‘Monnalisa,’  musical influences, and the challenges artists face today.

EG: Hi, Antonio! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been doing?

Adapter: Thanks for the invite. I’m good, thanks.

EG: First of all, thank you for your contribution to our EG Podcast series. We had a blast with this one. Is there a concept driving this mix? How do you usually approach this kind of mix?

Adapter: Usually, when I create a mix, I do it with Ableton, but I draw inspiration from the set I play in the clubs.

EG: By the way, congratulations on the recent drop of your latest single on STEREOHYPE, ‘Monnalisa’. How are you feeling about this one? What has the initial reception been like so far?

Adapter: I have a great relationship with James Hype and the Stereohype team. I’m always happy to release tracks with them.

EG: What can you tell us about this cut? Is there an emotional trigger behind this one? How did it come together?

Adapter: ‘Monnalisa’ is a project created together with Catchaman, and in fact, they are very similar. I always try to give meaning to my productions so that a unique sound is created.

“Electronic music has always been at the center of my life”

EG: Speaking of releases, is there anything that you can anticipate with us on that front?

Adapter: There will be lots of great releases this year. I can’t give you any previews, but it’s going to be a lot of fun.

EG: You come from a classical music background, is that right? How and when did you connect with electronic dance music, and what motivated you to explore that realm?

Adapter: I come from classical music, but also from the sound of the 80s and 90s. Electronic music has always been at the center of my life. I have been passionate about it since I was a child, when I was inspired by many big artists.

EG: On to a different subject, what would you like to accomplish this year as an artist?

Adapter: Definitely focusing on music. But there are tours planned that we will announce shortly.

EG: Now, given your experience in our scene, what are some of the biggest challenges artists will face in the near future? Is there any piece of advice you have for your colleagues in that sense?

Adapter: Definitely be unique and don’t copy the current trend. I’m following a lot of new artists, and there’s a lot of great music coming out. The important thing is to put your heart and soul into this work.

“I always try to give meaning to my productions so that a unique sound is created”

EG: What’s next for Adapter? Where can your fans catch you next?

Adapter: There will be dates in Italy, but mainly overseas. I can’t wait to announce them. I currently have some important collaborations and big releases coming up in the next few months.

EG: Thank you so much for your time, Antonio! We wish you all the best in the future. Take care!

Adapter: Thanks so much, I appreciate it.
