Boy In Space mastermind Robin Lundbäck is chasing the girl of his dreams in the Alice In Wonderland-inspired visual for his latest single “Caroline,” available today (Feb. 21) exclusively on Billboard. The Swedish artist adds a surreal spin to the pining pleas of the song’s irresistibly catchy chorus as he searches through a dream world of lush gardens, neon lights and the spectre of a girl just out of reach.
“For this video I wanted to create this trippy wonderland where your brain kinda takes you when you can’t get a specific person out of your mind,” Lundbäck tells Billboard. “It envelopes everything around you and can be magical but also really dark at the same time.”
The visual, directed by female duo Astro Film, balances the competing tones of absolute bliss and unrequited love with a storybook style beginning with the Sunken Place-style visual trick in the opening sequence. For his part, Lundbäck ensures that the adventure never veers off course by pulling from the song’s light and lively energy as he guides himself back to reality.
Though Boy In Space may never catch his white rabbit Caroline, they’ll always be close in his dreams.
