It was recently announced that the fifth season of Bridgerton will be based on the sixth book in Julia Quinn’s novel series, When He Was Wicked. The season will focus on the love story between Francesca Stirling (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza).

Per Netflix, Season 5 will center on the introverted middle Bridgerton daughter, Francesca, and take place two years after she lost her husband, John. As she reenters the marriage mart for practical reasons, the return of John’s cousin, Michaela, to London to tend to the Kilmartin estate forces Francesca to question her pragmatic intentions.
Tega Alexander

Tega Alexander joins the cast as Christopher Anderson, a Regency-era Casanova who rivals the Bridgerton bachelors. Despite his confident exterior, he harbors deep-seated self-doubt. Alexander is known for his roles in Guy Ritchie’s MobLand and Netflix’s The Sandman.
Jacqueline Boatswain

Jacqueline Boatswain will portray Helen Stirling, Michaela’s mother. Described as the source of Michaela’s spirit, Helen is a guiding force who uses both tough love and vivaciousness to navigate her daughter through the social season. Boatswain’s extensive credits include Hollyoaks, The Marlow Murder Club, and After the Flood.
Gemma Knight Jones

Gemma Knight Jones joins as Lady Elizabeth Ashworth, a close friend and confidante to Michaela. While she possesses playful charm, she is also a grounded realist well-versed in the unspoken rules of society. Jones brings a wealth of experience from both screen and stage, with credits ranging from Andor to theater productions like The Lion King and Come From Away.
