The Emotion – sorry, E•MO•TION – five year anniversary celebrations are in full swing now, and Carly Rae Jepsen‘s just done something long overdue.
As if the record wasn’t incredible enough as it is in its deluxe edition form, there are two equally incredible songs that were released as bonus tracks, “Never Get to Hold You” and “Love Again,” which were horrifyingly unavailable on streaming – until now.
“More surprises! Very excited to share that ‘Never Get to Hold You’ and ‘Love Again,’ the Japan bonus tracks from EMOTION, are now available worldwide ?,” Carly graciously announced on Friday (August 21).
“Never Get to Hold You” is one of my actual favorites from the entire E•MO•TION era. It’s a devastating, wistful, forgive-me-baby, no-one-knows-you-better ’80s gem, and I have openly wept while listening to it on a bus in New York City – very possibly more than once. “Love Again” is also really fantastic, and bursts with a kind of Kiss-era playfulness. They’re both essential in the E•MO•TION-al experience, and mercifully, they are now widely available to us all. Thank you, CRJ!
And if you haven’t yet, find out more about Carly’s Karaoke Party happening next week in honor of the album’s anniversary.
