Cocteau Twins’ Elizabeth Fraser shares first song in 13 years, “Golden Air,” with new project Sun’s SignatureCocteau Twins’ Vast Influence Lives On : 24 Great Artists They’ve Inspired
Cocteau Twins singer Elizabeth Fraser has released her first new music in 13 years, as part of Sun's Signature, her collaboration with partner Damon Reece (Massive Attack). "Golden Air," the first single from Sun's Signature's debut EP, is lush dreampop, falling somewhere between trip hop and baroque with Fraser's still acrobatic, otherworldly vocals front and center. It's great to hear her singing again and you can listen below.
The Sun's Signature EP will be out on vinyl on June 18 for Record Store Day with a digital release in July (date TBA).
While the EP is new, the songs on have been kicking around for a while. Sun's Signature includes "Underwater," a song which Fraser released as an extremely limited edition single (only 300 copies pressed) in 2000, and other songs were performed by Fraser at a one-off show in 2012. “We had to go down many, many different avenues to find what we were looking for," says Reece.
