Rising pop star Faouzia unveiled her latest single, "Wake Me When It's Over," on Thursday (April 2).
On the track, the 19-year-old Canadian-Moroccan singer flees from the emotional nightmare of a breakup that not even the monsters under bed can withstand. "I keep dancing by myself/ With a nightlight on/ Wake me when it's over/ Now that I'm living without you/ So much I'm missing about you/ Wake me when it's over," she wails over creeping strings and finger snaps.
"There are so many things that we take for granted when life is on the go. Now, with everything happening in the world, we have time to take a step back and think," Faouzia tells Billboard. "'Wake Me When It’s Over' speaks to the way our thoughts and anxieties can take control, but also help us appreciate normal, everyday life. Sometimes, the only thing to do is wait until the difficult times pass and be grateful for the simple things that we do have."
"Wake Me When It's Over" follows the recent Atlantic Records signee's recent string of singles including "The Road," "Born Without a Heart" and "Tears of Gold."
