The new Green Day album is called Father of All... (and going by the artwork, it looks like the end of that sentence that is blocked by the rainbow-breathing unicorn is "Motherfuckers"), and it's due February 7 via Reprise/Warner. If you're still hoping for Green Day to return to their '90s roots, don't hold your breath. The just-released title track has Green Day sounding like they still think it's 2003 and everybody is trying to be The White Stripes. Listen below.
The Weezer album is called Van Weezer, and going by the sound of new single "The End of the Game," the "Van" is clearly a reference to Van Halen, who Weezer are obviously paying even more homage to than ever on this song, though it's not a cover. (The album artwork is very '80s metal too.) Rivers Cuomo calls the album "like the blue album but with more-riffs." Listen below. Weezer says, "Right now the tentative release date for the album is set for May 15th. We know it’s a ways away, but hey this is rock n roll and we’re making our own rules (aka we just might release it sooner)."
The Citi Field show happens August 22. Tickets for the whole tour go on sale Friday, September 20 at 10 AM local with an AmEx presale starting Monday (9/16) at 10 AM local. All dates are listed below.
And here's, uh, what Billie Joe Armstrong said about the Green Day album:
this record is The New!
soul, Motown, glam and manic anthemic. Punks, freaks and punishers!
The Dirty messy . The Stink. ,
The lyrics are like a party and lifestyle of not giving a fuck. The life AND death of the party. Not political. Surviving in chaos. The real shit.
Me mike and Tre of the Green Day cut through the bullshit. That’s how it’s always been for us. Everything else is fake. Frauds I tell ya!!
Rock has lost its balls. We’re gonna teabag all these mother fuckers. The baddest rock band on the planet that gives a shit.
“Glorious” or “glorious anarchy” seems to be the word that keeps coming up that reflects
Dancing
Tribalism
Anxiety
Joy
Violence
Drugs
Booze
Dangerous songs for dangerous kids!
Our motto??
“Nothing says fuck you like a unicorn”
Love And kisses
Billie
