Greyson Chance stopped by the Billboard offices on Wednesday (Feb. 25) to play a set for Billboard Live and preview his upcoming third solo album.
After performing "Overloved," "Stand" and brand-new single "Dancing Next To Me," the pop artist chatted about the inspiration behind his forthcoming LP, working with Teddy Geiger, TikTok and more.
"I feel more happy and more inspired than I ever have been in music now going into this next record," he told Billboard's Jordyn Rolling. "It's in the same universe as [2019's] Portraits, I will say that...This album is a lot me talking about my trials and tribulations through the road of last year, my relationships -- and lack thereof -- that I had as I was touring. It just sort of covers what I was up to last year."
Chance also dished on using TikTok to promote "Dancing Next To Me," complete with fan-created choreography, confessing that the social platform makes him feel behind the times. "I'm still so new to it; I do think it's rather crazy," he said. "It's the first app that I've downloaded now as a young adult where I felt old for the first time. I'm 22 and I was like, 'Hold on, OK what are we doing here?'...And there's gonna be another one here in a few years and I'm gonna feel old again and it's gonna be a mess."
While the pop star stayed mum on the upcoming LP's title and release date, he did reveal the follow-up to Portraits would be dropping within "a few months."
