Hot Chip have announced their eighth album, Freakout:Release, which will be out August 19 via Domino. They made it at their new Relax & Enjoy Studio in East London that Al Doyle put together before and during the first year of the Covid. It's also the first time Hot Chip have started a record together with all five members involved.
The album was partially inspired by their cover of their cover of Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" which became a live staple since their last album, A Bath Full of Ecstacy. “By the time we were able to be back together, we were turning on a tap and having a lot of ideas being poured out quite quickly” adds Alexis Taylor. Joe Goddard describes the creative plan of attack as creating “In a natural way, without too much discussion or a grand plan.” Adds Al Doyle, speaking of their new studio, “Everything’s on all the time, and it’s very easy to capture what we’re doing.”
