Selena Gomez is not a businesswoman. She’s a business, woman.
Not only is the 28-year-old Stars Dance sensation teaming up with the world’s biggest girl group, BLACKPINK, for their s-sweet collaboration “Ice Cream” out on Friday (August 28), but she also…literally releasing ice cream. (And owning it, too.)
The ice cream brand Serendipity and New York City’s Serendipity3 announced Selena’s ownership, partnership and a brand new ice cream flavor “remix,” which includes a sweet nod to the ladies of BLACKPINK. (Sadly, no – it’s not called Chocolate Chip Cookie Ddu-du-ddu-dough.)
The flavor’s actually called Cookies & Cream Remix, made with “pink vanilla ice cream, crunchy cookie bites and swirling gobs of gooey fudge.”
“Growing up and loving the iconic Serendipity restaurant, I couldn’t be more excited to become a partner in their expanding brand. For the Cookies & Cream remix, I wanted to put my own personal spin on this classic flavor by making it with pink vanilla ice cream as a nod to my girls BLACKPINK and celebrate our new song,” Selena said in a statement.
And don’t worry, you don’t need to venture to NYC to taste it: Cookies & Cream Remix will be available beginning on August 28 for (the suggested retail price of) $5.99 in supermarkets, convenience stores and other food retailers across the country, and online at SerendipityBrands.com.
Honestly? It’s just smart, super timely branding on Selena’s part. And from what I hear, her HBO MAX cooking show is adorable and charming, so she’s got the food game on lock.
The other good news is that the partnership also provided a little sneak peek, behind-the-scenes shot of Selena snacking on her ice cream while filming the music video for “Ice Cream” – so the music video is happening, pandemic be damned.
I, for one, and looking forward to licking and listening to “Ice Cream,” which I’m still pretending is just a “Sour Candy” sequel. “F-frozen ice cream, so sweet, then I get a little tangy, yeah…”
And as for some sugary-sweet overload, watch all these lovely ladies meet over FaceTime…
