James Chance hospitalized & “very frail”; GoFundMe running to help with medical expenses

A GoFundMe for no wave legend James Chance and his longtime partner Judy Taylor was launched in 2020 to help them through “personal health issues and the COVID situation.” Since then, unfortunately, Judy passed away, and in a new update, his brother David Siegfried says that James has been hospitalized and is in poor health. It reads:

Hello Friends,

I wanted to let everyone know that James is in the hospital. He went in on Friday in severe abdominal pain and they are trying to relieve the pain. He had been able to walk around the apartment but now says he is unable to walk.

We’re very worried about him. Sylvia Reed visited him and she says he’s very frail. He’s down to 95 pounds. He needs to get some physical therapy to get his strength back but I don’t know how to navigate the health care system to get him approved for that.

If anyone out there knows of a good heath care advocate that can navigate the system, please send me a message. I’m at a loss because he is not well enough to go back to his apartment without in-home care, but the hospital wants to discharge him.
