The collaborative project features a remix from Yuksek.
JKriv and Peter Matson have joined forces for their new collaborative ‘Facile’ EP, out now on Favorite Recordings. The four-track release marks a significant creative partnership between the two Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalists and producers.
The record was developed at JKriv’s studio in Brooklyn, where the duo combined live-recorded elements with club-focused production. The sessions included contributions from a variety of local session musicians, incorporating live guitar, bass, analog synthesizers, and percussion to bridge the gap between organic instrumentation and modern electronic music.
Musically, the EP draws from a diverse palette of influences, including 80s R&B, boogie funk, and classic Zouk. The title track features vocals from Favorite Recordings artist Olivya, while ‘Underappreciated’ incorporates horns and vocals from members of Ibibio Sound Machine. ‘Over Suffa’ rounds out the original cuts with French vocals from Samy Love, addressing social themes over a steady rhythmic foundation.
JKriv is well-known as a co-founder of Razor-N-Tape, while Matson has established a reputation through his work with the band Underground System. The release is bolstered by a club-ready remix of ‘Underappreciated’ from French producer Yuksek.
