JoJo knows exactly what she needs from a "Man" in her sultry single from last Friday (March 13): "I need somebody who can love me like I love me."
Her fiery ode to finding love peppers self-love statements and affirmations that she's ready to give love to somebody else, only if he knows how to return it. But the R&B singer also features philia, the ancient Greek word for "friendship," as the third interpretation of love in her moody music video. Beside crooning about romantic love (eros) and self-love (philautia), JoJo links up with Ari Lennox, Tinashe, former DNCE guitarist JinJoo, grown-ish actress Francia Raisa and dancer/choreographer JoJo Gomez to celebrate their independence.
The group of girls laugh, dance, toast champagne glasses and take silly photos in the Marc Klasfeld-directed clip to praise being single instead of lamenting it. It's that stage of being comfortable in her own skin that the 29-year-old singer commands for this single and the rest of her forthcoming fourth album Good To Know due for release May 1 via Clover Music/ Warner Records.
