JP Cooper premiered his cover of Billie Eilish's "Everything I Wanted" on Monday (March 9), exclusively to Billboard.
In the clip, the U.K. breakout tackles Eilish's ruminative ballad with the help of his band, slowly building a lush, unfurling arrangement comprised of dual guitars, piano and organ. "I had a dream I got everything I wanted/ Not what you think/ And if I'm being honest/ It might have been a nightmare/ To anyone who might care," he croons as he gently strums an electric guitar.
"I don’t do many covers, but every now and again a song pops up that I feel drawn to," Cooper tells Billboard. "'Everything I Wanted' is one of those special songs. It was great jamming it out with the band during a bit of down time in the 'In These Arms' videos session!" ("In These Arms" is Cooper's latest single.)
"I’m such a fan of Billie and Finneas; the whole sound and approach is incredibly refreshing," he adds. "I love the intricacies in Billie’s delivery, and Finneas’ production is amazing. Here’s wishing the siblings of the moment many more years of success."
This spring, Cooper is set to embark on a headlining tour of the U.K. and Europe in support of "In These Arms," as well as 2019 tracks "The Reason Why," "Losing Me" and the Astrid S-assisted "Sing It With Me."
