Katy Perry is expecting her first child, and her real-life baby bump in the brand-new "Never Worn White" music video gave it all away. But the real kicker is why she chose to announce her pregnancy with this single and video.
In her first interview since the major news with SiriusXM Hits 1 on Thursday (March 5), Perry told host Mike Piff that "Never Worn White" isn't the lead single from her forthcoming record, but it came out at the best time.
"Honestly, I was getting way too fat to hide it, so I was like, 'Well, I think this song would be a great reveal! Let's start there," she revealed to Piff with a laugh. "And that's how I communicate things -- I communicate through music."
Perry's "Never Worn White" is a wedding-themed ballad about securing a lifelong love with someone, and in this case, the song points to her fiancé Orlando Bloom. In another interview segment with SiriusXM, Perry said the pregnancy was "no accident" and she and Bloom are "both looking forward to this new interval of life and sharing this."
Following her music video release, the 35-year-old singer further emphasized how nice it is to have the cat out of the bag on Twitter. "omg so glad I don't have to suck it in anymore," she wrote. "or carry around a big purse lol."
