Ministry, Melvins and Corrosion of Conformity played House of Blues San Diego (pics, setlist)

Ministry are currently on tour celebrating the belated 30th anniversary of their classic 1989 album The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste. The tour, originally set for 2020, was a reunion of the "Industrial Strength" tour with KMFDM and Front Line Assembly, but after two years of pandemic postponements they're now out with Melvins and Corrosion of Conformity. We caught the tour at the April 14 stop at House of Blues San Diego and photos by Mathieu Bredeau are in this post.

While they didn't play The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste in full, they did play its biggest bangers -- "Breathe," "Thieves," "Burning Inside," "So What" -- and kept the setlist focused on the late '80s and early '90s, including songs from The Land of Rape and Honey ("Stigmata," "The Missing," "Deity"), Psalm 69 ("N.W.O.," "Just One Fix"), a few Pailhead songs and more. They also played a couple songs from last year's Moral Hygiene for the encore before closing the night with a cover of The Stooges' "Search and Destroy." Check out the setlist and video of them playing "So What" below.

Also like their tours from the A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste era, Ministry erected a chain link fence around the stage that gave the show a post-apocalyptic feel. The night opened with the band's projection screens declaring "Ministry Stands with Ukraine," playing the Ukraine National Anthem as their walk-on music. They kept things political the whole night with images and video of climate activist Greta Thunberg, George H.W. Bush and more during their songs.

Check out more pics from the whole night below.

You can pick up The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste and other Ministry albums on vinyl in the BV shop.
