NYC-based singer-songwriter Alexa Dark has just released a mesmerizing debut alternative rock single titled “Fade to Black and Blue.” The song ideally introduces the young talented artist to international audiences, with a vintage sound that is at once cinematic and captivatingly intimate. Raised between Spain, Germany and London, Alexa Dark began writing her own music and poetry when she was still a teenager.
She was heavily influenced by the artists she listened to, such as Françoise Hardy, Jack White, Portishead, and Patsy Cline. When living in London, she performed both solo and with different bands. It is through the experience of performing live that she was rapidly able to find her lane in music and arrive at her unique sound and stage presence.
Dark moved to New York City, where she became deeply involved in the live downtown music scene and began working on new material. She wrote and recorded her debut song “Fade to Black and Blue” with producer Matt Chiaravalle (Debbie Harry, Warren Zevon), mastered by Grammy-award winner Emily Lazar (Beck, Haim).
"Fade to Black and Blue" is produced by Matt Chiaravalle (Debbie Harry, Warren Zevon), mastered by Grammy-award winner Emily Lazar (Beck, Haim). Its powerful lyrics explore love and loss, distilling an underlying apocalyptic feel from start to finish.
Her authenticity and unyielding artistry are two of the main reasons that explain the emotional and lyrical power of this impressive debut single.
