PJ Morton performed a couple of soulful classics Tuesday (April 7) for his Billboard Live At-Home concert to raise money for MusiCares, which provides critical assistance for the music community.
To kick things off, the Maroon 5 keyboardist worked his magic for a special rendition of the Bee Gees' No. 1 Hot 100 hit "How Deep Is Your Love," as his high notes in the chorus buoyed the cover and acted as "a light during these very dark times," according to a viewer's comment which parallels one of the lyrics, "You're the light in my deepest, darkest hour."
Morton later paid tribute to Stevie Wonder, whom he revered as "my biggest inspiration and influence," by performing the highly requested and timely "Love's In Need of Love Today" ballad. He reminisced on their 2013 collaboration titled "Only One," which the 39-year-old artist considered "still the biggest and most amazing thing I've ever accomplished."
But the New Orleans-based musician told fans he wants to secure more collabs with "one of the young greats" Anderson .Paak and Pharrell.
