Morrissey has reportedly cancelled or postponed more than 200 solo shows since 2012.
The soloist and former Smiths frontman is known among fans for shelving and delaying his live dates. He recently axed a pair of gigs in California due to an “adverse reaction to a prescription medication”.
Last November, he quietly called off a South American tour, citing “extreme exhaustion”, just days after two Mexican concerts were cancelled for the same reason. In October, Morrissey scrapped two gigs in Turkey for December, with fans speculating that this was because of his apparent support of Israel.
In the summer, he didn’t perform in Stockholm because he and the band were “travel-weary beyond belief” and receiving “zero music industry support”. This followed him pushing back some performances thanks to “a severe sinusitis attack”.
The singer-songwriter previously axed some dates after battling “toxic food poisoning” from some “penne pasta and tomato”. Other past reasons for the icon not taking to the stage include there once being a “credible threat” on his life, other health issues and logistical problems.
Now, Consequence has compiled all the instances where Morrissey has cancelled or delayed his live dates since 2012. The publication cited data from the fan site Morrissey-Solo, which notes that he has toured every year since then.
According to the site, Morrissey has announced 639 shows in the last 14 years. However, he is said to have only played 449 of these gigs (70 per cent). The star’s most challenging years were in 2013 (playing 16 of his 64 scheduled dates), 2016 (29 of 46) and 2025 (36 of 68).

Morrissey’s 2026 run of dates is now set to kick off in San Antonio, Texas, this Saturday (January 10). He recently announced his only UK gig for this year, taking place at The O2 in London on February 28 – find any remaining tickets here.
Over Christmas, the singer revealed the apparent tracklist for a new album, alongside the logo for Sire Records. The 12-song list seems to represent a different album from his long-delayed ‘Bonfire Of Teenagers’ record, but no further details have yet been confirmed.
Morrissey had previously shared a post on his website to indicate that he had signed a deal with Sire.
