Shakey Graves announces new album ‘Movie of the Week,’ shares “Evergreen,” touring

Shakey Graves, the project of Alejandro Rose-Garcia, has announced Movie Of The Week, his new LP out September 15 via Dualtone Records (pre-order). It follows his 2018 album Can't Wake Up. “In late 2018, some friends of mine were making a movie, and they asked if I would do the soundtrack for it,” Alejandro says of the new album. “I started recording music along to footage, but when I started to turn a lot of it in, I realized that the director and I did not see the movie in the same way. A lot of the music was turned away. But I made all this really cool stuff and felt really invigorated… Movie Of The Week is definitely more on the lush side. I'm really excited about making this more like a project than an album.” Check out the artwork and tracklist below.

Movie Of The Week includes previously-released track "Ready Or Not" featuring Sierra Ferrell, as well as eerie new single "Evergreen." The new song opens with dark, gentle acoustic strums and opens up to slightly dissonant distortion and Shakey Graves' nostalgic vocals. Listen to both tracks below.

Shakey Graves will be on tour through the end of the year, including shows with Lucius, Abraham Alexander, Trampled by Turtles, flipturn, Rayland Baxter, and Sadurn on various dates.

His co-headlining run with Lucius hits NYC on August 15 at The Rooftop at Pier 17, and Luicus and Shakey Graves also both open for The War On Drugs on August 18 at Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, NJ, with Steve Gunn on the bill as well. All dates below.
