NYC’s Village Halloween Parade celebrated its 50th anniversary of Tuesday (10/31), where temperatures that dipped into the upper 40s didn’t deter thousands of costumed revelers from marching and lining 6th Ave from Canal St to 18th Ave. Costumes ran the gamut from scary to inspired by pop culture and current events, with Barbie particularly well represented. This year’s Grand Marshall, Laurie Anderson, honored her late husband Lou Reed, playing violin atop a float with a few other musicians, and there were an assortment of marching bands, elaborate puppetry, and the usual huge group dancing to “Thriller” throughout the route, among other highlights.
