Timothée Chalamet responds to rumours that he’s UK alt-rapper EsDeeKid: “All will be revealed in due time”

Timothée Chalamet has addressed rumours that he is the artist behind UK alt-rapper EsDeeKid in a recent interview.

EsDeeKid is best recognised for his track ‘LV Sandals’, which went viral on TikTok and featured underground UK rappers fakemink and Rico Ace. Hailing from Liverpool and rapping in a distinct Scouse accent, much about the artist’s background is not known, given he remains anonymous and performs obscured by a balaclava.

However, since the release of his album ‘Rebel’ this summer, fans have been trying to work out the musician’s identity, and some are convinced that it is actually Timothée Chalamet. TikTok users have pointed to the fact that Chalamet has a long-standing love of hip-hop, as he performed as a rapper called Lil Timmy Tim during his childhood.

Other theories involved close-ups of the artist’s eyes, which users believe look like the actor’s, and the fact that both the rapper and actor use double ‘e’ spelling in their names.

Appearing on Heart FM to promote his new film Marty Supreme, Chalamet was asked by presenters Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden if he is EsDeeKid. “I’ve got no comment on that” he replied, before adding “I got two words on that”.

After a long pause, he said “all will be revealed in due time”, and conceded “that was a little more than two words”. The actor then joked with Holden, who incorrectly called his childhood rap persona “Little Timmy”. “(That) doesn’t have the same ring to it” he joked, laughing with the hosts.

EsDeeKid has not publicly commented on the rumours. Next year the rapper will be heading out on a North American and Australian tour, and he will also be joining IDLES, Amyl & The Sniffers, JPEGMAFIA, and more in opening for Deftones at London’s Outbreak Fest 2026.

In November, Timothée Chalamet earned his first Grammy nomination thanks to his role in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown. The accompanying album, on which Chalamet sings, is up for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.
