Watch a clip of Bjork as a witch in new Viking epic ‘The Northman’

The Northman, the highly anticipated Viking historical fantasy from director Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Lighthouse), is out next week, and amongst its high profile cast is Icelandic icon Bjork, who hasn't acted in a film since Dancer in the Dark. She plays Seeress, a witch who offers prophecies to Amleth (Alexander Skarsgård), the film's revenge-obsessed protagonist. You can watch a clip of Bjork in creepy, whispery prophesying mode, via NME, below.

The screenplay for The Northman was co-written by Eggers and longtime Bjork collaborator Sigurjón Birgir Sigurðsson, which probably had something to do with her being in it. It was also shot primarily in Iceland and the rest of the cast includes Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, and Willem Dafoe. The film's out April 22, and you can watch the just-released final trailer below.

The Northman score was composed by Robin Carolan (Tri Angle Records founder) and Sebastian Gainsborough (Vessel) who said, "It was a bizarre, exhilarating and a generally batshit-crazy project to be a part of, let alone be the first score either of us have worked on." The soundtrack album will be out July 1 via Sacred Bones, and we've got an exclusive variant on green and tan splatter vinyl that's limited to 300 copies. Preorder now.
