The 'Black Power Live' livestream went down on BehindTheRhyme's Twitch channel on Saturday (6/27), hosted by Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors and benefitting the Crenshaw Dairy Mart, Trap Heals, Sankofa, Transgender Law Center, and Black Men Build.
To watch the full thing, you have to be a BehindTheRhyme subscriber, but punk-rap duo Ho99o9 released video of their set, which featured blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and found the band performing both songs from their new two-song single and doing a cover of the Bad Brains classic "Big Takeover" (which, with its lyrics like "There's no love for this USA / This world is doomed with its own segregation / Just another Nazi test," resonates very strongly right now). The cover is awesome, and the originals (the hazy rap of "Pray or Prey" and the fired-up punk of "Christopher Dorner") sounded great too.
Ho99o9 write, "Keep the fight for justice, ending racism & police brutality moving forward in any way possible, every little thing helps. Thank you to everyone who tuned it, 999."
