Wimps prep new LP ‘City Lights,’ share title track

Seattle garage punk greats Wimps will release City Lights, their first new album five years, on October 13 via Youth Riot Records. Singer guitarist Rachel Ratner is one of the great chroniclers of everyday life, finding pathos and humor in the mundane and this album tackles the ups and downs of motherhood, boredom, loneliness and other subjects across 13 noisy, melodic rippers. Fun!

You can check out two great songs now: “Mom,” which comes with an awesome video, and City Lights’ title track which laments how you can’t see the stars in the city (but urban life has its positives). Check them out below.

Wimps also have a couple live dates on the horizon: a hometown release show at Seattle’s Clock-Out Lounge on 10/13 and Portland’s The Fixin’ To on 11/4.
