Event was scheduled during CMA Music Fest
The 2020 CMT Music Awards, originally slated for June 3rd, will move to Wednesday, October 14th.
“Our top priority this last month has been rebuilding our hometown of Nashville following the tornado and ensuring the safety of our fans, employees, artists and partners during the COVID-19 crisis,” the network shares in a statement. “As we look forward to celebrating country music’s biggest stars together with our community and viewers, we will continue to follow the guidance of the CDC and local public health officials.”
Nominees and performers have yet to be unveiled and will likely closer to the new fall date.
The 2020 CMT Music Awards follows the postponement of the iHeartMusicAwards and ACM Awards, now set for fall airings. The postponement following the cancelation of CMA Music Fest, which was scheduled to run June 4-7th in Downtown Nashville.
