The big album out this week that I can't recommend enough is the new Hum album -- their first in 22 years -- which was surprise-released out of nowhere on Tuesday (read our review). This week also brought a lot of other good heavy music though, including the Bell Witch & Aerial Ruin album (which I wrote about in Notable Releases), and the new albums by Paysage d'Hiver, Pyrrhon, Lantern, THÆTAS, VoidCeremony, and more (which you can read about at Invisible Oranges' Upcoming Metal Releases). We also got killer new singles from Boris, Jesu, Venomous Concept, Full Of Hell, Necrot, Terminal Nation, Myrkur & Anna Von Hausswolff (covering Bjork), Inter Arma (covering Prince), Human Impact, Uniform, Varaha, and more. BORIS - "LOVELESS"
The extremely prolific Boris just announced a new album which will be out next week, and first single "Loveless" is a fucking rager - one of the thrashiest songs we've heard from Boris in a while. Read more here.

JESU - "BECAUSE OF YOU"
Justin Broadrick will release new Jesu EP, Never, later this year and here's the first track from it. "Because of You" is, like a lot of Jesu's work, both atmospheric and heavy with layers of metallic sheen floating above pulsing electronics and some dreamlike vocals.

VENOMOUS CONCEPT - "LEMONADE"
Venomous Concept -- the hardcore band who share members with Napalm Death and Brutal Truth -- will follow 2016's Kick Me Silly - VC III with Politics Versus The Erection on August 28 via Season of Mist. First single "Lemonade" is a total ripper.

FULL OF HELL - "LANGUAGE OF MOLTEN CHERUBS"
Full of Hell released their first new track since 2019's Weeping Choir, "Language of Molten Cherubs," and it's a noisy, intense, sensory overload.

NECROT - "ASLEEP FOREVER"
Modern-day Bay Area death metal greats Necrot unleashed another scorcher off their anticipated sophomore album Mortal.

TERMINAL NATION - "MASTER PLAN"
Little Rock, Arkansas political metalpunks Terminal Nation have a new song off their upcoming album Holocene Extinction, which you can read more about here.

MYRKUR & ANNA VON HAUSSWOLFF - "ALL IS FULL OF LOVE" (BJORK COVER)
Myrkur (Amalie Bruun) and Anna Von Hausswolff have released a gothy, haunting, minimal cover of Bjork's 1997 Homogenic classic "All Is Full Of Love." Read more about it here.

HUMAN IMPACT - "TRANSIST" & "SUBVERSION"
Human Impact -- aka former Unsane frontman Chris Spencer plus Phil Puleo (Cop Shoot Cop, Swans), Jim Coleman (Cop Shoot Cop), and Chris Provdica (Swans) -- released their great self-titled debut album earlier this year, followed by the standalone single "Contact," and they promised more standalone singles would be on the way. Here are two more. "Transist" is cut from the same psychedelic post-hardcore cloth as the album, while "Subversion" is much more out-there.

The industrial-metal alloy that is Uniform are back with new album Shame which will be out September 11 via Sacred Bones. Here's the first single.

VARAHA - "REVES"
Varaha have released a new ensemble single -- featuring members of Napalm Death, SubRosa, Yakuza, Veil of Maya, and more -- that came together long-distance during the pandemic. "We were all stoked to be doing this pandemic piece, and everyone worked extremely hard with whatever recording gear they had at home, and we all became one," says vocalist Fabio Brienza.

VENOM PRISON - "DEFY THE TYRANT" (2020 VERSION)
UK hardcore-indebted death metallers Venom Prison are releasing Primeval -- an album of re-recordings of their first two EPs plus two brand new songs -- on September 9 via Prosthetic, and the first taste is this new version of the title track of 2015's Defy The Tyrant EP.

DEEPER GRAVES - "LEAVE THIS WORLD"
Deeper Graves is the solo project of Chrome Waves' Jeff Wilson, who has also played in Wolvhammer, Abigail Williams, and Nachtmystium, and he'll release his debut album Open Roads, on July 3. You can read more about new single "Leave This World" here.

THOMAS GILES (BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME) - FEEL BETTER EP
Between the Buried and Me have a quieter, more melodic side to their progressive death metal, but frontman Tommy Rogers goes way further in that direction with his solo project Thomas Giles, with which he just released a new three-song EP. It's like Pink Floyd meets trip-hop and it's pretty cool.

GLORIOUS (EMPLOYED TO SERVE, RENOUNCED - "UNASHAMED" & "I DON'T WANNA BE ME" (TYPE O NEGATIVE COVER)
Glorious, a new UK hardcore band with members of Employed To Serve and Renounced, are streaming their debut EP, which includes four killer originals and an awesome cover of Type O Negative's "I Don't Wanna Be Me." Hear the title track below and hear the full EP (Type O cover included) at Revolver.

ECOSTRIKE - "TOGETHER"
Florida vegan straightedge up and comers Ecostrike are releasing their sophomore album A Truth We Still Believe on July 24 via Triple B Records, and lead single "Together" is a real whiplash-inducer, but with a nice slowed-down breakdown in the mix too.

GEIST & THE SACRED ENSEMBLE - "VOLITION"
PacNW collective Geist & the Sacred Ensemble mix psychedelic rock, folk, and doom metal in a way that's not unlike Swans, Hexvessel, or some alternate version of history where Tony Iommi played guitar for Jefferson Airplane. Read more about their new single here.

INCANTATION - "PROPITATION"
NJ death metal legends Incantation are releasing their first album in three years, Sect of Vile Divinities, on August 21 via Relapse. The first single is the venomous "Propitiation."

A.A. WILLIAMS - "LOVE AND PAIN"
Dark singer/songwriter A.A. Williams releases her anticipated debut album Forever Blue next week (7/3) via Bella Union, and here's another hauntingly hypnotic taste of it.

ENTRY - "SELECTIVE EMPATHY"
Entry (who share guitarrist Clayton Stevens with Touche Amore) released the second single from their upcoming debut album Detriment (due 7/17 via Southern Lord). Vocalist Sara G tells Revolver the song is about "the struggle many of us have with our parents who once told us to be kind and accepting to everyone, but now support ideas contrary to that. I think this issue has been exacerbated by the widespread use of social media for news and information sharing.

COUNTERPARTS - "PURER FORM OF PAIN" & "STRINGS OF SEPARATION"
Just two weeks ago, Counterparts vocalist Brendan Murphy's band END put out their killer new album, and now Counterparts unleashed two non-album tracks from the sessions for 2019's Nothing Left To Love. Brendan writes, "You might love them, you might think they stink, either way it’s all good by me. They’re b-sides! Who gives a shit?” We certainly don't think they stink!

MORTALITY RATE - "VEINS" (ft. JUDICIARY's JAKE COLLINSON) (remixed/remastered)
Calgary modern-day hardcore greats Mortality Rate are putting out a remixed, remastered reissue of 2016's Sleep Deprivation with the songs from their split with Judiciary tacked on. The first song to be released is "Veins" from the Judiciary split (and which also features Judiciary's Jake Collinson).

DON'T SLEEP (DAVE SMALLEY) - "REFINE ME"
Don't Sleep is one of the many bands of melodic hardcore veteran Dave Smalley (Dag Nasty, ALL, Down By Law, etc), and they just announced their new album, Turn The Tide, due September 4 via Victory Records founder Tony Brummel's new label Mission Two Entertainment. The album includes co-production by Walter Schreifels (alongside Carson Slovak, Grant McFarland, and Matt Holmes), and engineering by Brian McTernan. "Refine Me" is a melodic punk ripper, exactly the kind of song Smalley has excelled at for decades.

BE WELL - "CONFESSIONAL"
Speaking of Brian McTernan, his new band Be Well (which also features members of Fairweather, Darkest Hour, and Bane/Converge) announced their debut album and shared this great new single. Read more about it here.

CONSTANT ELEVATION - "BOB X. CURSION"
Constant Elevation, first the duo of Vinnie Caruana (The Movielife) and Sammy Siegler (Youth of Today) but now a five-piece band with members of Caspian, American Nightmare, and more, announced a new EP and released this new song. You can read more about it here.

VAMPIRE - REX
Vampire put their new album Rex out on Century Media last week. It's earned more than a few comparisons to fellow Swedish band Tribulation, and it's not hard to see why -- both bands do extreme black/death metal with a huge emphasis on bright, soaring melodies, and both bands rip.

INEXORUM - MOONLIT NAVIGATION
Inexorum -- the duo of Carl Skildum (Threadbare, Antiverse, Obsequiae live lineup) and Matthew Kirkwold (Antiverse and Obsequiae live lineup) -- mine classic black and death influences on their new album for Gilead Media, and they do a lot of justice to those sounds and make them sound fresh.
