Guided by Voices pay tribute to Big Star on new single “Alex Bell”

The ever-prolific Guided by Voices have announced a new 7" single that will be out September 30. It's titled "Alex Bell," and at least in name and on the cover art, it's a tribute to Big Star songwriters Alex Chilton and Chris Bell. Musically, it is not overtly Big Star-esque, but is another mega-catchy, big-riffed Guided by Voices earworm. The song premieres here and you can listen below.

The "Alex Bell" single is limited to 1000 copies and can be pre-ordered via the band's Rockathon Records.

Guided by Voices finally played NYC in March, after having the show postponed twice due to Covid, and they've got more shows on the horizon, including Atlanta's Shaky Knees, as well as dates in Indianapolis, Philly, DC and more later this spring. All dates are listed below.

The band's most recent album, Crystal Nuns Cathedral, was released in March and will probably not be their last full-length of 2022. Stay tuned.
