London post-punk outfit Dry Cleaning delivered a memorable surprise for fans at this year's Green Man Festival, welcoming Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy to the stage during their set on the Mountain Stage this past weekend.
The collaboration took place on August 21, with Jeff Tweedy joining the band on guitar for a live rendition of their track 'My Soul/Half Pint'. The performance marked the first time the two acts have played the song together in a live setting, adding a unique highlight to the festival's programming.
The connection between the artists runs deeper than this one-off appearance; Jeff Tweedy also contributed guitar work to the studio version of 'My Soul/Half Pint', which appeared on Dry Cleaning's third studio album, Secret Love, released earlier this year. Notably, parts of that record were tracked at The Loft, Wilco's own recording studio in Chicago.
The timing of the guest spot was particularly fitting, as Wilco were scheduled to headline the Mountain Stage just hours later. This performance served as a bridge between the two bands' sets, delighting the crowd at the Brecon Beacons festival.
Following their appearance at Green Man, Wilco continues their UK and European tour, with a performance in Glasgow scheduled for August 22. The band has also recently expanded their touring horizons, announcing their first-ever shows in Africa, set to take place in Marrakech next March.
As for Dry Cleaning, their latest album Secret Love has received critical acclaim for its artistic evolution. In a four-star review earlier this year, NME noted that the band continues to "flip the script" on expectations, proving themselves to be one of the most compelling acts of the decade.
