John Digweed Drops New Apple Music Mix Ahead of Northern Exposure Release

John Digweed has released the latest installment of his monthly Compiled & Mixed series on Apple Music, arriving a few weeks before the highly anticipated release of Northern Exposure Redux with Sasha. This new mix, number 58 in the series, finds the veteran DJ returning to the breakbeat and progressive influences that have remained central to his musical identity since the original Northern Exposure era.

"This entire Compiled & Mixed series exists because I’ve never stopped loving this music," Digweed says, reflecting on the renewed attention surrounding the sound. The mix serves as a testament to his enduring passion for the genre, featuring tracks by Prototype, Timo Maas, Thaddeus X, Nathan Cable, and more.

A Deep Dive into Progressive Soundscapes

A central section of the mix focuses on Centrik Records, featuring two versions each of LOST’s 'Crushed' and Nathan Cable’s 'Ride.' By placing original productions alongside alternate remixes, Digweed demonstrates how the same material can evolve in different directions within a single set. Elsewhere, he includes Wehbba’s new electro reshape of Timo Maas’ 'Ubik,' a nod to a track whose original version he remembers from its release through Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto label.

The tracklist also features Prototype’s remix of Thaddeus X’s 'Pets,' plus music from Mattr, Gab Oliver, Pyrrhus, and an unidentified track, showcasing a diverse range of sounds that define his current curation style.

Celebrating 30 Years of Northern Exposure

The release comes ahead of Northern Exposure Redux, the 30th-anniversary edition of the iconic 1996 mix album by Sasha and Digweed. The project is scheduled to go out on September 25th, 2026, and includes newly worked ambient and dub material alongside the original North and South mixes.
