Patrick Mason Debuts on His Label with New Single ‘Hood Dub 7’

Patrick Mason has officially released ‘Hood Dub 7’, his debut solo single on his own MASONICS imprint. This release serves as the inaugural offering from his forthcoming three-track ‘Glory’ EP, marking a significant milestone in the artist's career.

The production is a deliberate reinterpretation of Paranoid London's ‘Paris Dub 1’, drawing heavily from Patrick Mason's formative experiences within Berlin's underground club scene. Reflecting on the creative process, Patrick Mason shared, “‘Hood Dub 7’ is my love letter to Berlin, paying homage to my early days at Berghain. ‘Paris Dub 1’ was one of the first techno tracks I really connected with, and I wanted to capture that same feeling I had when I first heard it, but twist it into something more contemporary, dark and rooted in my own experiences.”

The track is characterized by rolling percussion, a dubbed-out bassline, minimal kicks, and atmospheric synths. Notably, it also features Patrick Mason's own vocals, adding a personal dimension to his signature sound. This release aligns with the broader mission of MASONICS, a label conceived to bridge the history of underground music with modern artistic experimentation.

The label recently hosted an Amsterdam Dance Event showcase at Lofi on October 21st, featuring performances by Laure Croft, Yasmin Regisford, Shinedoe, and DJ Rush, alongside a special commissioned performance from Soraya Schulthess and her DANCÆ collective.
