Anna Calvi, Adam Buxton and Carlos Alomar Lead ‘Bowie Night’ Events at London’s Lightroom

A Celebration of David Bowie at Lightroom

A series of events celebrating the life and enduring legacy of David Bowie have been announced for London’s Lightroom. The program, which runs from May through September, features an impressive lineup of collaborators and admirers, including Anna Calvi, Adam Buxton, and Carlos Alomar. These events are designed to complement the venue's major new immersive production, David Bowie: You’re Not Alone, which is set to open on April 22.

The 'Bowie Nights' season promises a cross-disciplinary exploration of the late icon's work, offering fans a unique opportunity to engage with the creative forces that shaped his career.

An In-Depth Look at Bowie’s Creative World

The series kicks off with a focus on the visual and collaborative aspects of Bowie's artistry. On May 19, renowned graphic designer Jonathan Barnbrook will present 'Jonathan Barnbrook On Designing Bowie,' a talk detailing his extensive collaboration with the star, spanning from 2002's Heathen to the final masterpiece, Blackstar.

Following this, 'Bowie Nights: Behind The Lens' on May 26 will bring together six of the legend's most iconic photographers—Geoff MacCormack, Kevin Cummins, Richard Young, Brian Aris, Denis O’Regan, and Chris Duffy—for a conversation with author and journalist Miranda Sawyer, providing a rare glimpse into the stories behind the lens.

Live Performances and Artistic Dialogue

The program also highlights the musical influence of Bowie through intimate performances and discussions. On June 10, 'Anna Calvi And Carlos Alomar In Conversation With Guitars' will see the acclaimed singer-songwriter join forces with Bowie’s long-time musical director and guitarist to unpack the late star's compositions through both discussion and live demonstration.

Additionally, comedian and podcaster Adam Buxton will bring his celebrated 'BUG Bowie Special' to the venue on June 17, July 2, 3, and 4, offering a deep dive into the visual history of Bowie’s most iconic music videos. The musical tribute continues into September with a unique cello recital by composer Peter Gregson.

"'David Bowie: You're Not Alone' invites audiences at Lightroom to experience the imagination and creativity of David Bowie," said Richard Slaney, Lightroom CEO. "It vividly depicts how he played with and drew upon all forms of culture in his music and performance; so, it's a natural extension to explore his impact through this fantastic series of events."

As part of the 'Bowie Nights' initiative, Lightroom will host 'Bowie Late' sessions on select Friday evenings, beginning May 1. These events will celebrate specific eras of Bowie’s career, starting with the 1970s, and will feature themed cocktails and encourage fans to dress in their best Bowie-inspired attire.

More events are expected to be announced in the coming months. For further information and ticket availability, visit the official Lightroom website.
