Contemporary Jazz musician and composer Brian Ligon, has already achieved new milestones thanks to his latest chart-topping album Nowhere But Here II. The instrumental record delivers a perfectly curated setlist that includes 13 tracks, among which are “Bad,” “Select,” “Fly Away,” “Carnival,” “Funk,” “Run It,” “Lady,” “2040.”
Coming together with talented musicians like Stephen Gibb, Doug Emery, Carlos Alvarez, and Jim “Pinky” Beeman, Ligon manages to create a forward-looking album that introduces a new perspective to the traditional Jazz sound. Combining modern and experimental compositions together, the multi-talented producer has transformed the genre, suggesting different and unconventional arrangements.
Following Nowhere But Here II, Brian Ligon reveals that he has started taking courses in Music Composition For Film and TV at Berklee. “My main interest is composing original music and scores for Hollywood movies of various genres. I feel it will make me a better musician, but I also think it’d be cool to be a part of the storytelling of Film and TV by contributing to the music,” says the Jazz musician.
Hitting number one on the iTunes charts, the recent album is the follow-up to Nowhere But Here, released six years ago. Ligon, who is a master Piano and Alto Saxophone player, admits that one of the most difficult challenges in his music career was finding himself as an artist and as producer. The multidisciplinary artist has grown a lot over the years and tries to only release music that represents his true self.
