David Gilmour's wife, Polly Samson, recently released her new novel A Theatre for Dreamers, which is set in 1960 on the Greek island of Hydra, "where a circle of poets, painters and musicians live tangled lives, ruled by the writers Charmian Clift and George Johnston, troubled king and queen of bohemia. Forming within this circle is a triangle: its points the magnetic, destructive writer Axel Jensen, his dazzling wife Marianne Ihlen, and a young Canadian poet named Leonard Cohen." Samuelson and Gilmour, along with the rest of their family, have been hosting weekly internet broadcasts to promote the novel, which include performances from Gilmour and, with Cohen being one of the book's characters, he's been covering a few Cohen songs. As Rolling Stone notes, on one broadcast he covered “So Long, Marianne” and “Bird On The Wire,” and on the most recent, he covered “Hey, That’s No Way To Say Goodbye” and “Fingerprints.” You can watch those below.
Meanwhile, David's onetime Pink Floyd bandmate Roger Waters paid tribute to the late John Prine over the weekend by covering "Paradise." "My friend John Prine died," Roger wrote. "This is his song, Paradise.' Miss you, brother." Watch that below.
