Interactive experience is Sun, Apr 5th
This week soul singer, songwriter and producer Erykah Badu delivers the second episode of her Quarantine Concert Series, Apocalypse Two: The Rooms. This interactive experience gives guests a chance to move from room to room inside her home, exploring and experimenting with different genres of music interpreted through her catalogue of hits.
Respecting the mandate for social distancing, Erykah Badu, along with her band, streams an innovative and interactive concert live from her home while under COVID-19 quarantine on Sunday, April 5th at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT.
Virtual doors are open now and guests have immediate access to the “venue” where they can chat, watch videos, shop and meet the creative collaborators behind the limited edition merchandise curated by Badu.
Fans can visit baduworldmarket.com for the performance. Admission is $2 donation payable on the platform. Proceeds underwrite the cost of the high-concept production and they financially support the performers, crew members and technicians that make it all happen.
After a string of concert cancellations due to the coronavirus, Grammy Award-winning soul singer, songwriter, and producer Erykah Badu decided the show must go on! Last week, she kicked-off the “Quarantine Concert Series, Apocalypse One: The Rooms,” live from her bedroom, using a technology she co-designed. It provided visitors with a highly interactive experience, leveraging polls that allowed fans to choose the songs she sang, the outfit she wore and even who would play which instrument.
Supported by her full band, Badu spoke about the financial burden quarantine has placed on artists and performers, who rely heavily on income from live shows. At a time when musicians, engineers, and technicians have been spiked out of work, Badu gives them a safe place to land, all while exercising social distancing. An advocate for artists, as exemplified by her company Control Freaq Records, Badu has transformed the role creatives play in managing their own careers. For many, her music releases are more than just albums; they reinforce a lifestyle and a movement, which she recently celebrated with the launch of her new online brand, BaduWorldMarket.com.
