Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon did what a lot of besties are doing these days on Tuesday night (April 7): they goofed around through Zoom from their homes during the coronavirus quarantine. And it was exactly what we needed right now.
The old pals did goofy skits, reviewed their long-running bromance and just indulged in some general silliness to make us all feel a bit better about our long national lockdown on The Tonight Show.
One of the best bits was a "Quarantine Remix," where they tried on a variety of shades, beatboxed, played percussion on household implements and groaned about still being home. In a later segment Timberlake admitted that after all these years of closeness, he had no idea Fallon was a master of handfarts.
The last time they got together on air Timberlake was on vocal rest, so this time JT had a lot to say -- after revealing that they've been chatting "every other day" during self-isolation. The pair tried to remember the first time they ever met at the 2002 MTV VMAs.
"The funny thing about our friendship even when it, like, first started I just remember that nothing was that serious," Timberlake said about how chill they both were at the awards show, where Fallon was a host for the first time and JT was debuting a solo track ("Like I Love You") that nobody had ever heard before.
"We started doing bits back and forth... and that's all we do now," he laughed, as they recalled the insane amount of protein shakes Fallon drank when they went on safari in Africa together. Timberlake also tried to explain their Inception-style coffee mugs (it's complicated, just watch below) and the insane amount of fun Fallon had at Timberlake and Jessica Biel's 2012 wedding.
"Honestly everyone who came to that wedding, everyone says you had the most fun at our wedding," Timberlake laughed, recalling that Fallon interrupted JT's wedding speech by putting a giant glass vase on his head like an astronaut helmet.
They also, of course, mentioned Timberlake's work on the new Trolls World Tour animated movie, due out on Friday (April 10) on VOD. Ironically, Timberlake said, the video for "Don't Slack" was filmed back in February, before the national lockdown, but the concept plays around with the idea of being stuck inside at home and having a dance party with two imaginary friends.
