K-pop idol Kotoko of girl group UNIS was recently taken to the hospital after she fainted on stage during a concert.
The incident took place over the weekend on August 3, during the girl group’s appearance at the ‘2024 Midsummer Night’s Cultural Festival: Mini K-POP Concert’ in Haenam, South Korea.
In videos captured by fans, Kotoko collapsed while UNIS were on stage performing a cover of TWICE‘s ‘What is Love’. Her groupmates are shown running to her side, before the stage lights were turned off.

Following the incident, her label, F&F Entertainment, said that the group’s performance was “halted” after Kotoko fainted, and that the K-pop idol was “immediately taken to the hospital”.
“After being examined, she is currently resting at the hospital,” the K-pop agency added. “We apologize for giving fans cause for concern, and we will do our utmost to make our artist’s health our top priority.”

Kotoko has since spoke about the incident in a statement on fan community app Weverse. “My physical strength has been restored a lot through rest and stability, so you don’t worry,” she wrote, as translated by the app. “I’ll work hard to take care of my stamina. Thank you for your concern […] I’m all better.”
Despite the K-pop star’s reassurance, fans of the group have voiced concern for the singer, with one X (formerly Twitter) user noting how she is “only 16 [years old]”.
