The gates to Glastonbury 2025 have just opened

While recently discussing the emphasis on safety and space management earlier this year, organisers also dropped new information about the site’s layout. One such change is the additional space introduced around The Other Stage, done particularly due to the huge number of people who will be wanting to see Charli XCXĀ perform there as headliner on the Saturday night.

Eavis had also encouraged Glastonbury-goers to make full use of the festival app (download here) to highlight which artist they were planning to see. ā€œIt’s useful for us from a crowd perspective,ā€ she explained on the Sidetracked podcast.

ā€œWe can say we have red, orange and green [areas], and if something is looking like it is going to be [busy], the field might have to be closed. It’s a normal thing to do when something is busy and it keeps it safe.ā€

Rumours about some secret sets at this year’s festival arose afterĀ the full line-up and day splits were unveiledĀ at the start of the month, and there wereĀ indications of several secret setsĀ on the way.

These included a ā€˜TBA’ at the Pyramid stage on Friday (June 27) beforeĀ Alanis Morrissetteā€˜s set, a mystery show at the Woodsies early on Friday at 11.30am, and a gap at the Park Stage on Saturday (28) betweenĀ Gary NumanĀ andĀ Beth Gibbons.

One of the most talked about sets though is the performance of a mysterious artist going by the name ā€˜Patchwork’, which is planned for the Pyramid Stage on Saturday.

Since it was announced, fans and bookies have been convinced that the set would most likely be a surprise set from Britpop legends,Ā Pulp – althoughĀ both frontman Jarvis CockerĀ andĀ keyboardist Candida Doyle have been quick to dismiss the rumours.

Other favourites for the slot includeĀ Lorde – who recently saidĀ she was eager to ā€œpull some stringsā€Ā and organise a last-minute appearance – HAIM, who have beenĀ dropping hints about their love for the festival in recent interviews, andĀ Lewis Capaldi, who is speculated to be behind theĀ new billboard that appeared in Castle Cary yesterday.

Now, a new name has been added to the mix following Chappell Roan sharing a new post on Monday (June 23) with a subtle hint to the ā€˜Patchwork’ alias.

At time of writing, it remains unclear who will be performing under the ā€˜Patchwork’ name this weekend, althoughĀ bookies are still certain that it will be Pulp, despite their recent comments denying it. If the Sheffield band were to take to the stage there, it would coincide with them recently sharing ā€˜More’, their first album in 24 years, and also take place 30 years after their 1995 headline slot.

The upcoming instalment will mark the last beforeĀ Glastonbury takes a fallow year in 2026Ā and, last November,Ā tickets for Glastonbury 2025 sold out in just 32 minutes, with the festivalĀ making use of a new queuing system for tickets.

Meanwhile, here are the worst clashes to expect this year, as well as the latest weather forecasts for Glastonbury 2025.

Check back here later this week for moreĀ NMEĀ coverage of the festival.
