Event will be rescheduled for a later date
The 2020 edition of the iHeartCountry Festival has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. The event was scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas, but pushed back due to the venue suspending all events for the “immediate future.”
“In further response to the growing concerns over COVID-19 (coronavirus), The University of Texas is postponing all events at the Frank Erwin Center for the immediate future, UT Vice President and Athletics Director Chris Del Conte announced on Thursday. No decision has been made at this point on when events will resume, but an announcement will be made once that is determined. Ticket holders will be contacted directly about any postponed events,” the venue shares.
“For the health, safety and well-being of all of its patrons, performers and staff, we have decided to postpone upcoming events at the Erwin Center for the near future,” Del Conte states. “After discussion with University officials and leadership at the Erwin Center we believe it’s in the best interest of everyone involved to proceed with an abundance of caution with events at that facility.”
The seventh annual iHeartCountry Festival Presented by Capitol One was to supposed to feature performances by Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley, Sam Hunt, Lady Antebellum, Dustin Lynch, Kelsea Ballerini, Kane Brown, Jon Pardi and Chase Rice, plus Hot Country Knights, Bobby Bones and more. No word on which artists will be involved for the rescheduled date.
The festival is among the latest of a massive list of entertainment events to be canceled or postponed following the World Health Organization’s declaration of a global pandemic. SXSW was one of the first festivals to be canceled after the City of Austin shut down all major events late last week.
More than 130,000 cases of the coronavirus have been reported in 110 countries with nearly 5000 deaths. However, more than 70k people have contracted and survived the virus that was discovered last year.
