The Naked and Famous stopped by Triple J's studio to cover The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights" for Like a Version, uploaded on Thursday (March 19).
For their rendition, the indie pop act gave the spacey hit an alternative bent, injecting it with Thom Powers' electric guitar and Alisa Xayalith's crystalline vocals. "I said oooh, I'm blinded by the lights/ No, I can't sleep until I feel your touch/ I said oooh, I'm drowning in the night/ Oh, when I'm like this, you're the one I trust," the pair harmonized on the track's chorus over a crashing drum kit and layered synths.
During the set, the New Zealand band also performed their own song, 2020's "Bury Us," which serves as the second single off their upcoming forth studio set, Recover. The LP is expected to be released May 8 via Somewhat Damaged and will also feature lead single "Sunseeker" and promo track "Come As You Are."
The Weeknd, meanwhile, dropped his long-awaited fourth album After Hours, which includes No. 2 hit "Blinding Lights" as its sophomore single, on Friday (March 20).
