The premiere and MUBI release date for Cameron Winter‘s Live At Carnegie Hall film have been officially confirmed. Directed by acclaimed Oscar-winning filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson, the project captures the Geese frontman during his intimate solo performance at Carnegie Hall’s Isaac Stern Auditorium, which took place on December 11, 2025.
Shot on 35mm and 16mm film, the production serves as a visual companion to Winter’s 2024 solo album, Heavy Metal. The film documents a pivotal moment in the artist's career, following a massive North American tour with his band, Geese. Fans who attended the concert previously spotted Anderson and producer Benny Safdie operating cameras throughout the venue, fueling anticipation for this cinematic document.
Premiere Details and Global Distribution
The film is set to make its world premiere at the 64th New York Film Festival, running from September 25 to October 12, followed by its UK premiere at the 70th BFI London Film Festival, scheduled for October 7 through 18. Following these festival runs, MUBI has secured global distribution rights—excluding North America—and plans to stream the concert film in 2027. In North America, the film will be handled by Janus Films and Criterion, with theatrical screenings slated for later this year.
The official synopsis describes the project as a direct reflection of the artist's journey: “Cameron Winter, in December 2025, after a months-long sold-out tour with his band Geese, returned to New York to play a single show at Carnegie Hall. This is the movie.”
A Multi-Format Release
In addition to the film, the Carnegie Hall performance is being released as a live album, Live At Carnegie Hall, on October 9 via Partisan Records and Play It Again Sam. The audio was recorded, produced, and mixed by Ariel Rechtshaid, who also oversaw the music production for the film. Tickets for the theatrical screenings will be available starting September 17.
