Song was written during the COVID-19 quarantine
Luke Combs is making the most of the quarantine by writing and releasing new music. Combs will issue his COVID-19-inspired song “Six Feet Apart” digitally on Friday, May 1st via Sony Music Nashville. The country superstar shared the news to his Bootleggers’ fan club members on Friday (April 24th).
“Recorded ‘Six Feet Apart’ this week. Out next Friday, May 1 on all streaming platforms,” he says.
Combs wrote the song with Brent Cobb and Rob Snyder on April 14th and shared an acoustic version the next day.
“I miss my mom, I miss my dad / I miss the road, I miss my band / Giving hugs and shaking hands / It’s a mystery I suppose / Just how long this thing goes / But there’ll be crowds and there’ll be shows / And there will be light after dark / Some day when we aren’t six feet apart,” he sings in the chorus.
Combs says he “wanted to write something we all could relate to but still have hope and look forward to” as most of the country lies in wait for stay-at-home orders to be lifted.
Combs is featured on Columbia Nashville/River House Artists rising star Jameson Rodgers new single “Cold Beer Calling My Name” that was released last week. The collaboration reunites the former touring partners following a stint on Combs’ Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour last year.
