Alex Rodriguez Zoomed in to see Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night's (April 23) Tonight Show to eat some very hot wings, kvell about Barbra Streisand's note to Jennifer Lopez about her "People" cover at the One World: Together at Home concert and talk about how the coronavirus has impacted their wedding plans.
Fallon asked the question on everyone's mind off the bat: what about those summer nuptials? ARod said the couple, who got engaged in March, are hitting the pause button due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. "We have to go with the flow now. Everything is fluid," the baseball great said, adding that "everything" is on pause as the couple wait to see "where the world takes us."
"We just want to make sure we think safety first to make sure all the little ones are all in a good place," he said. With late night hosts pressing their families into service as their camerapeople, lighting directors and graphics departments, Fallon asked ARod if had had a hand making Lopez's One World backyard performance look so great.
"It was a family effort," Rodriguez said, noting that he helped with some of the filming, but that the pair's kids are "much better at the arts and the camera angles... I never thought our backyard would convert into a concert hall." The best part? Afterwards, Lopez -- who wore a Streisand shirt during the performance -- got a personal note from Babs, which turned the Hustlers star into a blushing fangirl.
"I felt like Jennifer turned into her daughter Emmy as a 12-year-old. She was so excited. She got red in the cheeks," Rodriguez said of Lopez's sweet reaction. He said that he's missing baseball so much that he's watched dozens of classic contests on the MLB Network, as well as the wildly popular Last Dance ESPN docu-series about the Chicago Bulls. Rodriguez also stuck around to burn his taste buds off in the "Hot Ones" chicken wing challenge.
