Sløtface have announced their new album ‘Film Buff’ and have shared their inspirational single ‘Ladies Of The Fight’.
The Norwegian act wrote ‘Film Buff’ – their third studio album –in collaboration with producer and songwriter Preben Sælid Andersen (Hajk, Death by Unga Bunga). According to frontwoman Haley Shea, she found inspiration in film and the cinematic world while creating the LP. ‘Film Buff’ is set for release via Propeller on September 27. You can pre-order / pre-save it here.
Shea teamed up with bandmates Tobias Maxwell Osland (Hammok) and Simen Følstad Nilsen (Aiming for Enrike, Embla and the Karidotters) to create the inspirational ‘Ladies Of The Fight’.
The pop-punk track features gritty guitars, loud drums and cross references a joke from the series 30 Rock. “So if you’re feeling weak and ashamed / And let down by the world / Thinking you’ll get smacked in the back of the head / When you least expect it / Join us / The Ladies Of The Fight,” Shea sings in the chorus, calling for all of those who struggling or going through it.

Speaking of the song in a press release, the frontwoman said: “I wrote the song during a period when I was watching a lot of ‘Selling Sunset’ on Netflix, and with these characters in mind, along with other TV and film references, ‘Ladies Of The Fight’ came to be.”
She continued: “The song is also heavily inspired by an episode of 30 Rock, where the main character Liz Lemon suddenly stumbles into a ‘fight club.’ Since the rest of the album is written with a short story approach, I wanted to continue this writing style and based it on the idea of a group of women starting their own ‘fight club’ as an outlet for their frustrations.

“The riff in the song felt so powerful, like a battle call to me, so I wanted to write lyrics that matched it but still were silly and fun. The goal is for the song to make you feel like you can achieve anything and take control of any situation. ‘Ladies Of The Fight’ is tailor-made for summer festival mosh pits. I can’t wait to play it live!”
The song follows the previously released track ‘Final Gørl’ and ‘Fight Back Time’ featuring The Buoys.
