The legendary Britpop icons Pulp have officially announced the release details for their highly anticipated new film, What Do You Do For An Encore?. The project, which chronicles the band's triumphant return to the stage, is set for a special one-night-only cinema event, accompanied by a compelling new trailer.
Directed by Garth Jennings—who previously collaborated with the band on iconic music videos for 'Help The Aged' and 'A Little Soul'—the 90-minute documentary offers an intimate look at the group's journey from their early days to their status as cultural icons. The film features narration from frontman Jarvis Cocker, who reflects on the band's enduring legacy and their recent resurgence.
A Cinematic Celebration of Pulp
Global distributor MUBI has confirmed that the film will premiere in UK and Irish cinemas on September 18, followed by a Canadian release on September 23 and a US debut on September 24. Following this exclusive theatrical run, the movie will be available to stream on MUBI later this year.
The film is designed to capture the energy of the band's recent arena tour, which celebrated the release of More, their first studio album in 24 years. Much like the classic Talking Heads concert film Stop Making Sense, the project blends high-energy live performances with never-before-seen archival footage spanning four decades.

The trailer showcases the band's elaborate stage production and the massive crowds they have commanded during their 2025 and 2026 performances. Featuring 20 songs, including both fan-favorites and rare deep cuts, the film serves as a definitive document of the band's current era.
Accompanying Live Album and Future Projects
In addition to the film, the band will release a live album titled Live! on August 28 via Rough Trade. The record captures the band's two sold-out performances at London's The O2 in June 2025. Cocker described the project as both a statement of fact and a challenge to the audience to "come alive."
The band continues to maintain a busy schedule, having recently performed at Mad Cool 2026 and a special orchestral show at the Royal Festival Hall. With upcoming headline dates at Manchester’s Wythenshawe Park and a slot at End Of The Road 2026, Pulp remains a vital force in contemporary music.
Beyond the music, Jarvis Cocker is also preparing for a new art exhibition at the Hepworth Wakefield, set to open in May 2027, further cementing his role as a multifaceted creative force.
